British Airways has unveiled a new codeshare partnership with Airlink, a privately owned South African airline. In an official statement released on Wednesday, both carriers expressed their belief that this collaboration would significantly enhance connectivity between the UK, Europe, North America, and more than 15 destinations across Southern Africa, encompassing countries such as South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Namibia.

The key benefit of this agreement lies in the convenience it offers British Airways’ passengers, particularly those traveling from Cape Town or Johannesburg to London or transiting through the city. With a single ticket, travelers will be able to seamlessly connect to their final destination, granting them greater flexibility and a wider range of options.

Presently, British Airways operates two daily flights between Johannesburg and London Heathrow utilizing the A380, along with two daily flights between Cape Town and London Heathrow, in addition to three weekly flights connecting Cape Town to London Gatwick.

Moreover, members of British Airways’ loyalty program, the Executive Club, will have the opportunity to earn rewards when they fly on Airlink flights as part of a codeshare journey with British Airways.

It is worth noting that British Airways previously had a franchise agreement with Comair, the owner of kulula.com. Under the terms of this agreement, Comair operated domestic British Airways flights within South Africa. However, the agreement came to an end when Comair entered provisional liquidation.
