What comes as the second acquisition in two weeks, VerSe Innovation has acquired the photo and video sharing app Vebbler after it took over Cognirel Technologies, an AI startup, on 23rd February.

VerSe Innovation owns Dailyhunt, the news aggregator, and Josh, the short video platform. VerSe Innovation plans to leverage the company’s resources to build and strengthen its linkages with its customer base with this new acquisition. Through this takeover, VerSe hopes to get a strong differentiator for Josh.

VerSe Innovation was founded by Virendra Gupta and Umang Bedi, who in a joint statement mention, “The combination of Vebbler’s product capabilities with our platform will improve our ability to drive innovation around a camera and social engagement, and play a more meaningful role in capturing the mindshare, timeshare, and revenue share of Bharat’s local language users.”

Vebbler is a photo and video sharing application founded by Sahil Bhagat. This application allows you to join various theme-based groups like fashion, photography, etc., and exchange videos and photos. Vebbler flaunts over 100 categories for its users to join.

Vebbler also allows its users to create content using the application camera that comes with a range of tools like AI-supported neural-art filters, stickers, drawing tools, GIFs, fonts, etc. The application also has a patented video processing and editing filter that allows it to offer this scale of customization.

Sahil mentions, “In VerSe Innovation’s vision, we find strategic synergies between Josh and Vebbler. This deal speaks volumes to the value and quality of our product.”

Getting endorsements from Bollywood actors Dino Morea and Nikhil Chinnappa, Vebbler was initially intended as a private application enabling friends and peers to create private groups to share content during various events like holidays, festivals, etc. However, considering the industry dynamics, Vebbler transformed into its current form.

A unicorn of the startup world, VerSe Innovation is supported by Google, Microsoft, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), and Alphaview, to name a few.
