The healthcare industry is one of the largest industries in the world. India’s healthcare sector alone was calculated to be worth over $140 Billion back in 2016 and is expected to reach the value of $372 Billion by 2022. However, the recent pandemic highlighted the lack of efficiency in the management of available resources in the healthcare industry worldwide, especially in India, at a time when the world needed healthcare professionals the most. Nitthin Chandran, realizing this problem well in advance, is on the path to solving this problem with his company, MedPiper Technologies.

Nitthin has been working in the healthcare management consulting industry for 11 years, which equipped him with the knowledge and expertise to start MedPiper Technologies. He was aware of the industry’s bottlenecks and unseen barriers that slowed down the progress and efficiency of the sector and hindered the growth process of healthcare professionals.

Nitthin soon realized that he could provide a solution for the barriers and help establish a transparent relationship between the practitioners and organizations in the healthcare industry. With his old college friend, Pranay Suyash, Nitthin started MedPiper Technologies, an innovative health-tech platform for healthcare professionals and organizations.

MedPiper Technologies, found in September 2019, verifies and connects healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, staff, etc., with the healthcare organizations in India. The company has already enlisted more than 40,000 professionals and offers its services across 35 organizations at present. They also list hospital and healthcare organizations’ job vacancies, clinical assignments, and partnerships on their online website.

Nitthin holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Automation from Amity University and a Cert in Economics from Stanford University. He was also a finalist in Microsoft Imagine Cup Global in 2010. Apart from this, he is also an alumnus of YCombinator and Startup Leadership Program 2020.

2020 was especially tough on the healthcare industry, but MedPiper enabled their partner healthcare organizations to come out stronger and well-equipped. The initial months of the start-up were quite challenging as it was tough to communicate with the doctors. Nitthin wanted to make sure that he was not disrupting doctors’ work hours while talking to them and collecting data. Another challenge he struggled with was perfecting the user-interface and the design of their platform. The team at MedPiper Technologies is continuously working to improve and innovate their health-tech platform as they want to provide the best experience possible for HCPs. However, the company’s growth in the last year has been organic – just through referrals and word-of-mouth, which is enough proof of their hard work and success.

Nitthin plans to make MedPiper the global platform for verified professionals in the healthcare industry. In five years, Nitthin aims to make MedPiper’ The Global Passport’ for doctors and other healthcare professionals – showcasing their track records, career pathways, and additional necessary information, thus bridging the gap between HCPs and organizations.

Apart from this, he is also developing his CME platform, MedToday, an online medical news website for India. Currently, MedToday showcases healthcare industry-based blogs, essential point-of-care drug and disease information, and updates on Coronavirus and its vaccination.

It took us one pandemic to realize the poor condition of the healthcare industry. Clearly, we need to leverage the benefits of AI in optimizing and automating the healthcare industry, and Nitthin Chandran is on the mission to do exactly that. Through his hard work and futuristic vision, he wants to make sure that if such a situation arises again, we will be ready to provide support to the first line of defense in the healthcare sector.
